About me Maggie Metcalfe Counseling

Hi, I can't wait to meet you! I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) with a background in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling and 6 years of experience as a Mental Health Counselor. I have a deep understanding of employment issues as well as barriers due to disability, including mental health. I have worked with a diverse range of people for the last 20 plus years and I love that diversity. I welcome you and value your uniqueness.

My approach is conversational, using holistic methods like Humanistic person-centered counseling, Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Counseling, and Rehabilitation Counseling. Together we will identify barriers and develop a path to healing. I understand the barriers caused by divergence and disability and can help you manage them.

Guidance for Personal Growth and Well-being

I work with individuals and provide counseling and guidance for people experiencing depression, anxiety, stress, neurodivergent issues, and LGBTQ issues. My work is informed by my own experiences with both formal and informal education, including 16 years providing foster care for teen girls, 20 years providing advocacy for youth and adults in education and medical arenas, and 16 years as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor. I have learned through my experience of disability in the family and all the needs that brings with it. I have also been educated within my Queer community about the needs of marginalized people. I am an anti-racist and believe in the beauty and potential of all people.

Inclusive Counseling for a Brighter Future

As a member of the Queer and Poly communities and as a person who has experienced disability in the family and provided advocacy for many individuals, I see and appreciate the full spectrum of humanity. I am an anti-racist and an activist for marginalized people. I believe diversity is our strength and that full inclusion is a requirement of a just society.

I am a trauma-informed counselor and a certified Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinical Specialist and a member of the LGBT+ community. I help clients get over their barriers and build the life they want. I have a deep understanding of how trauma and life changes affect us and how to re-set a perspective in life in order to move forward to reach life goals. I work remotely from the foothills of Mt. Baker in Northwest Washington. I am available virtually in Washington State and in-person in Bellingham, Washington. My favorite thing is helping people develop, and increase their joy in life. In our first few sessions, I will learn what your needs and concerns might be and will be able to help you build a plan for personal and career success. I look forward to meeting you!
